Heroes Beyond the Flames: Merced Firefighters' Heartfelt Fight Against Cancer

In the quiet streets of Merced, heroes walk among us. They're the men and women ofthe Merced Fire Department, who not only rush into burning buildings but also into thehearts of those battling a different kind of fire – cancer.

Through their annual T-shirt fundraiser, the Merced Fire Department fight for the cancer patients in our community. In 12 years, these heroes have raised over $186,000 benefiting the Mercy Merced's Cancer Center. Many thanks to all our community heroes fighting for a cure.

These funds aren't just numbers on a page. They're a lifeline for patients facing the toughest fight of their lives. They're the wheels of the car or bus that brings a patient to their critical appointment when they have no other way to get there. They're the gentle hands of art therapists helping patients express what words cannot. They're the circle of chairs in a support group where no one fights alone.
