Mercy Medical Center was awarded a Certificate of Distinction for advanced certification as a Primary Stroke Center and was given the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission. This distinction is based on a review of compliance with national standards, clinical guidelines, and outcomes of care.
The Mercy Foundation has been able to support the Stroke Program at Mercy through raising funds for services and equipment. Most notably, the Foundation was able to fund the purchase of a Remote Presence (RP7) Medical Robobt, also known as Dr. Bot, following a very successful gala event in 2011.
The Foundation also provides additional support to the Stroke Program through the funds raised at Mercy's 5K Stroke Awareness Run. The race is held annually in conjunction with Mercy's Family Festival.
