About Robotic Surgery

During da Vinci® Robotic Surgery, the surgeon sits at the robotic system console set several feet from the patient in the operating room. The surgeon views the body through a high-definition, 3-D system while using hand controls to move robotic arms, which have been inserted strategically through small incisions. The robotic arms mirror the surgeons’ motions on a much smaller scale, allowing them more dexterity and agility than the human hand alone.
