Do the 5K Your Way!

After last year's unfortunate cancellation due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we are proud to get back into step and present Mercy's 5K Stroke Awareness Run virtually! Although we will not be able to gather in person and run the race together as in the past, we are giving you a creative license to do the 5K your way. Run it, bike it, row it, it is completely up to you! 

Going the Distance for Mercy's Stroke Program

In its 10th year of existence, this fun-run was created to educate participants and our community as a whole on the signs and symptoms of a stroke. Mercy's 5K Stroke Awareness Run has been a vital source of funding for numerous services and equipment for our Certified Primary Stroke Center, which has been awarded the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission. 

How to Participate in the Virtual 5K

Since this year's fun-run is virtual, you have the flexibility to choose however and whenever you would like to complete your 5K. To participate, follow these easy steps: 

  1. Register yourself and up to 10 others for Mercy's Virtual 5K Stroke Awareness Run, securing your race t-shirt(s) through our quick and easy registration process. Simply click the "Register Here" button at the top right-hand side of your screen. Don't forget to create or join a virtual race team (see more info below)!
  2. Pick up your race t-shirt and packet at one of our packet pick-up dates listed on the right.
  3. Do your 5K! Yes, this step is that simple. Just remember that a 5K = 3.1 miles!
  4. Report your time - From May 1 - May 15, revisit this webpage after completing your 5K to report your time and how you completed through the "Report My Time" survey button to the left. To promote some friendly competition, all participants who complete the survey will have their name and time posted on our webpage below!  

Create or Join a Virtual Race Team

Show your stroke awareness spirit by creating or joining a virtual race team! Directions on how to do so and a listing of all current teams are located on our registration page, click the "Register Here" button on the top right. 

Awards will be given for the largest team, most creative team masks, and most creative stroke awareness themed team masks. To be considered for the two team mask categories, please email photo(s) of your team, socially-distanced of course, to Be sure to include your team name in the email!
